First Annual Best Dressed Irish Dog Contest
in conjunction with the
St. Patrick's Day Parade at Sea Side Heights
Return
The Best Dressed Irish Dog Contest was conceived less than two weeks before the St. Patrick's Day Parade by our own Kieran Pillion, who has lots of thinking time on his daily commute between Island Heights and Princeton. Kieran placed ads in the Critters section of the Asbury Park press on the Monday and Wednesday before the parade. Entrants were asked to register by email on our web site. Most who registered actually showed up. Kieran also provided prizes that included a $50 Target gift card for each of the three winning owners.

Our judge for the event was veterinarian Fritz McHugh, who is a Democratic councilman in Seaside Park.

The first place winner was Daisy, a Pug, seen here on the left with her owner Linda Genitempo of South Toms River.

The second place winners -- it was a tie -- were Jack Russell Terriers Bartley, center, and Brianna. They were accompanied by Megan Hutton (standing) and her mom, Donna, of Mercerville, N.J.
Third place winner Wolfie, an American Eskimo, missed the group photo at the end of the parade, but her she is before the parade with owner Sene Myklebust and family.
